Tea cup Tuesday #21

A few weeks ago I left a tea cup at the flea market, and when my sister and niece visited last week we visited the same flea market. The lone cup was still shoved to the back of a shelf waiting for me to return. The tag admitted that is was an unmarked piece and that it was a set of mismatched pieces, but the price was only $2. So I brought it home figuring that is only pennies more than a one big Sonic drink!

I also remembered a rooster tea pot I had tucked up on top of the hutch. I am not much for novelty tea pots since I want to brew in all my pots, but I was into roosters at the time and thought this fellow needed a home. I have not thought of him for a while until I saw someone post about chicken dishes and décor. He wasn’t far away sitting on top of the hutch, but do you ever walk by something everyday and not truly notice it?

Love the teacup I think you got a beauty for $2 and the Rooster teapot is cute if not practical for brewing tea.

Hi Bookie,
Your teacup is gorgeous and you got yourself quite a bargain. I love roosters myself so I think your teapot is adorable!
I'm so glad you stopped by today and explained to me what an egg cod is. What a wonderful idea! I did not purchase the egg cod but I was fascinated by it. I have enjoyed your blog and I am your newest follower! Thanks for sharing and I wish you a lovely week.

Blessings,
Sandi

Gorgeous teacup. A few years ago my daughter decorated her kitchen with roosters. It was like walking into a barnyard. Your tea pot is darling. There was once a time she'd have paid a fortune for one like it.

I love tucking things away and finding them still there when I go back; and what a deal. Your rooster teapot look like a sculpture. I would be so afraid of chipping or staining it. Something like that would never get used in my home. Lovely post. Take care.

That is the first rooster tea pot I have ever seen!
Your bargain tea cup and saucer is really lovely. It is lusterware, probably from Japan. It doesn't matter that it is mis matched. It is still beautiful.

Terri

It's always so nice when you put something down and then you go back and find it still there another time. I haven't been that lucky recently. I passed by a silver service and went back 2 days later, and it was gone. Then, I discovered a rooster teapot, but I didnt' get it the day I saw it. And it was gone when I went back 2 days later. In my case, when you snooze you lose!! I'm glad that didn't happen to you, because that teacup is beautiful.

And, with that rooster teapot, are you entering the rooster party this week? I think Barb at Bella Vista is the hostess of that party. You can access her through the blog button on my sidebar.

Blessings,

Love the tea cup and saucer! Gorgeous and so delicate! Roosters and hens are both cute, too, I think! Do you remember my blue and white cookie jar I posted a few months ago? And I LOVE the half tea cup hanging on your wall!! That's another thing I have like yours!! We are definitely kindred spirits! I, too, walk by things in my house and don't really "see" them, because I'm so used to them being there, as you said. That's when I'll move some things around, and it's as if they are new!
