This is Saturday Centus . The prompt must be used word for word somewhere in the story on not more than 100 words. The prompt is highlighted. For complete rules see:http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com. I have highlighted this week's prompt in piece below.
Play Ball!
Shelly finished weekend reports for her boss, folded the last load of laundry and started to vacuum when she tripped over the puckered football, slightly deflated like herself. How many times had she asked Tad to pick it up this week?
She lost her temper, aimed her clenched foot, swung, and connected with a chair leg. Blood squirted over the carpet while her toe transformed into a ripe blue plum.
"This is never going to come out," she thought as she scrubbed at the spot on the worn carpet.
She heard Tad and cronies slam car doors returning from the game. “Out damn spot,” she heard Macbeth in her head as she rubbed the blood deeper into the fibers.

Temper, temper!
;)
PS. I couldn't quite make myself stay away from Macbeth, either! Nice job.
Flaring tempers don't do much good, do they?
I did my centus based on a scene in Macbeth and no one got it. Oy.
Oh I love this!!
Ouch! How many times have I almost done that! Great post!
Funny one! Damn fine.
I think Tad is in for an earful when he walks through that door! Really well done, I can feel her frustration. "her toe transformed into a ripe blue plum" - great line!
This is a fun piece, just not a fun time for Shelly.
Cheers,
xoRobyn
Uh oh, Tad's going to be in big trouble, I think lol. Good job.
Oh man. Bummer. I broke a toe by stubbing it on a wall last summer (not a temper thing) but embarrassing none the less. So all I could do was feel the pain of that toe as it connected with the chair...OW>
Oooh if I had done that Tad would have heard me from the driveway. Jumpin around in pain, yelling "My toe! My toe" Tad should run!! LOL~Ames.
Ouch!! I've done that before...kinda
:-) I love this! Nice use of the prompt.
OUCH! Wow, that must've hurt like the dickens if it caused her to bleed! I'd be even more mad at that darn football since it's the reason for the blood and the swollen toe. I think Tad's gonna get a verbal beating now...
Nicely done, Claudia! I'd hate to be Tad right now!
Fine writing...Tad in trouble ;-) Peace
Ahh stubbed toes are the worst, especially when you're already feeling, "slightly deflated." Clever take on the SC!
ouch i felt her pain right there and it made my foot feel funny lol

Poor Shelly. Use COLD water on blood stains as soon as you can. Hot water sets blood stains. Now you know, all of you who plan to write crime fiction!
Great take on the theme. I like the fact that you kept it everyday and did not make her a murderess. There is plenty of blood in every day life!
Good work!
Best wishes,

I deliberately made myself stay away from Macbeth but now I wish I would have followed my first instincts.
Really great use of the prompt. I've done that myself a time or two.
And, oh, oh, oh that throbbing toe.
Thanks for a great read.
Ouch! I hate it when I hurt myself instead of the one who really deserves it!
Thanks for a great centus..................cj
