The Color Teal

It is hard not to talk about cancer because it rules my life right now. Someday though, I hope to get off the topic. Right now, I’m still forming questions and finding answers. I have two pleural effusions and I have had them drained three times a week by a Home Health nurse. She is excited because she thinks I am ready to move to only twice a week.

One thing I learned was that teal is the support color for ovarian cancer. To me, teal looks a lot like turquoise. Yeah for that as I love turquoise!

In an article about Australian AFTERNOON TEALS (teas for ovarian cancer support), I saw the lady using a teal colored tea cup. Now I have a jillion tea cups and saucers here but nary a one is teal colored! So I went to Amazon and found one! This morning I used it on the deck for morning tea. I am a long way from a tea party yet, but I did have a tea party for one this morning.

I was out early and the skies were still overcast from yesterday’s rain. A chorus of crickets was singing and later I saw butterflies. Autumn was trying to slip in a wee bit. Afternoon was a visit to my book club for the first time in four months and I will miss next month due to chemo so today was important visit. Then supper out with friends tonight to eat some healthy liver to help fight anemia.

Tonight it is to get down to 59 and the morning should be cool to start…maybe too cool. But hot tea in a teal cup will be nice again!!!!

Do you drink from a favorite cup?

LOVE your tea party for one. And that beautiful cup.
And yes, I have a favourite cup which I drink out of most of the day. And it is mine. No-one else drinks from it.

Yes, I DO drink from a favorite cup - mug, actually! (I'm not a tea drinker, however.) Teal is one of my favorite colors. I have it in several places in my house as an accent color. I wonder what/why the connection with ovarian cancer? My friend, it sounds like you are nearing the end of a long tunnel. You know. When you can see a little light ahead? That is my visual of you via your last few posts. ♥

Claudia--Your teal cup and saucer is lovely.

You keep talking about cancer until it surrenders and you emerge victorious. (By the way, I wrote about you in my post today. You are a real inspiration.)

Turquoise does lift my soul. The Bahamian flag has turquoise on top and bottom, to represent sea and sky.

Your tea cup is pretty. I will imagine you d
Sipping STRENGTH from that cup.

I imagine learning you have cancer is like the death of life as you knew it. Now, it seems you have overcome--or lived through--the death/ grief and have experienced resurrection and new life. You are an inspiration to me and many. xoxo

Simple pleasures!
No, I don't imagine you NEEDED another cup ... but your heart said, 'yes.' Glad you listened! :)

Funny, my youngest and I were just this morning discussing that teal is our favorite color! I likened it to turquoise, as you did, and suggested perhaps the color is the reason I love American Indian jewelry so much. Turquoise is widely used, and it is so beautiful.

Claudia, sounds like you are taking mindful breaks in your battle. Such things as a favorite cup, tea for one and meeting with your book club will surely do you good. Wishing you all the best. I'm always happy to meet another tea friend.

Love the teal tea cup... wrote you a note this morning mentioning that I imagined you would love this cool weather to sit on your deck and have a cup of tea! Sending love...

I love your tea cup, and have a couple of favorites of my own. My most favorite now is a cup I got from Cafe Beignet in New Orleans last year. It's big and sturdy and it always makes me smile when I open the cabinet and it's there waiting! So glad you are sharing your journey, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I also love teal/turquoise! Your teacup is so lovely. And I agree with Lynn...I also thought of you on your deck, knowing you love fall and cooler weather.
