Some Fast and Rambling Thoughts

Yellow lilies and blue bottles in morning sun...

The week has been an odd one and the weather falls into odd category as well. Storms, hot, and cold. This morning it was so cold I had to turn furnance on! But then amazingly the sun came out, the air warmed, the breeze stilled! Perfect deck weather!

The week had some bad news, some possible good news, some rejections of course. A couple of meetings and a dentist appointment were on the calendar.

Finished A Mother's Reckoning by Sue Klebold about Columbine, reread Plant Dreaming Deep by May Sarton, and read Painted Horses by Malcolm Brooks. All wonderful, mind pricking reads! Today began John Grisham's Gray Mountain.

Wrote a new poem this week...

So after many things including two days where DH helped me clean four rooms of this house, we were ready and entitled to some creative deck sittin'! While the house cleaning was not the spring cleaning of my ancestors, I felt better about things in general with a little dusting, the laundry done up, food in the cupboards; DH washed windows, vaccumed floors, and mowed yard. Today we read books, drank tea, and enjoyed our little peice of the earth!

Tomorrow is possibly severe storms, but I hope they don't materialize. I hope you all had the lovely sunshine we did today.

Claudia--I enjoyed "Gray Mountain"--not his best, but an easy, entertaining read nonetheless.

Thanks for the photos. You gave me an idea about the bottles I have collecting dust, waiting for the right craft project.

Unusual week weather-wise here too.
So, do we get to read your new poem?
I finished Alexander McCall Smith's "Emma". I really enjoyed it.
We spent a day and a half with our son and his family. Helped with a couple of projects, watched a soccer game, celebrated an 8th grade graduation and went to church where we got to hear our son preach!

Love the blue bottles; they're a lovely accent to your lilies. Mine haven't bloomed yet.
I always enjoy finding out what others are reading. I just started Joyce Carol Oates' latest short story collection, "The Doll Master." It's masterfully written, of course, but the stories I've read thus far are dark and disturbing. I had to put the book down for a few days but plan to pick it up and try again.

The weather has lurched to the odd side here too.
I am impressed with all you got done, and hope your bad news was small. And managable.

Your photo with the blue bottles is pretty. Cold and wet here.

Hello Bookie...

Love your flowers and blue bottles! Weather here has been odd, too. Strange spring.

Good for you and hubs cleaning. I need to get on the stick and do more of that around here. There seems to be so little time.

Thanks for your visits. I appreciate them soooo much. Susan

The blue bottles are a great way to add more color, I'll have to try that! We just got our patio cleaned up and look forward to spending time out there this summer!

Love the day lilies! I discovered them a few years ago and my yard loves them. They're easy to grow and so cheerful to look at. The bottles are a nice addition to your landscape. :)
